Vanessa Bushell completed her degree in psychology at the Australian National University and then a graduate diploma in health psychology at the University of Canberra.
Since then, she has worked as a registered psychologist for 17 years, specialising in depression, anxiety, complex trauma and working with adults and teenagers who have experienced abuse. She also has professional training and broad experience working with couples and families.

This passion is reflected in her book published in 2014 called, “Don’t Tell Me to Get Over It: A women’s guide to navigating emotional overwhelm,” which aims to educate women in understanding emotions.
Outside of psychology, Vanessa has a special interest in Gaelic history and the Irish language (Gaeilge). She enjoys travel, as well as dance, music and fencing.
