WHAT IS DRUM THERAPY?
Drum Therapy can be an outlet for emotional blockages, it provides the ability to experience flow & release of emotion and assist with connection to self and others. Drumming will provide an introduction to rhythm for concentration and enhanced learning. The Health Hub’s DRUM TO groups are available in 3 streams and aim to support emotional regulation, improve social connection and enhance communication skills.
All group participants are matched with age and goals.
The Health Hub’s DRUM FOR groups are run by a qualified Rhythm to Recovery instructor. Rhythm to Recovery is an evidence-based program that focuses on Rhythm to Support Mental Health.
DRUM TO REGULATE
Rhythm can regulate your emotions, as sound connects with our body on a deeper level.
This group focuses on learning to connect, express and settle our body by making rhythms.
DRUM TO COMMUNICATE
Identify different ways we communicate and how you can change your style of communication to achieve different outcomes. This group allows members the opportunity to take various roles, improve collaboration and develop excellent listening skills.
DRUM TO CONNECT
Build stronger connections with your family through using drumming. You will learn to communicate in a different way through listening, learning and collaborating.

SELF-ESTEEM & SELF-IDENTITY FOR TEENS
Being a teenager is hard! Changes occurring physically and socially. As part of this phase of growing up you may feel lost in trying to figure out who you are and what you want to become.
This group is aimed at supporting teenagers with improving self-esteem, discovering their self-identity and learning how to be content with themselves. Activities will vary; art, physical fun, games — all designed to assist with understanding ourselves better.
MINDFULNESS
This group has a focus on learning and practising a variety of mindfulness activities to support emotional regulation. Many people struggle with constant thoughts of what could happen in the future and/or memories that impact thoughts and feelings. Mindfulness focuses on learning to be in the moment and focusing our attention where we want it to be. This in turn quietens the mind and allows us to regain control of our choices.

YOGA THERAPY
Yoga Therapy integrates ancient practices of yoga to support therapy for mental health and physical difficulties. Yoga Therapy supports people to integrate the body and breath improving their ability to control the mind, while connecting with the body and learning to identify emotions within their bodies. Yoga groups will focus on varying participants’ needs.

ROCK & WATER
Rock and Water is a physical activity-based program aimed to support teenagers with managing conflict, anger, bullying and social interactions. Through the fun physical activities’ teenagers will improve their body awareness, enhance their ability to consider alternatives to problems, improve self-esteem, encourage them to reflect on their behaviours and engage well with others in the group.

FLOW ARTS

Flow Arts are a variety of movement-based disciplines including dance, juggling, fire spinning and object manipulation. Flow arts improves body awareness and connection, improves bilateral motor skills and coordination, improves mindfulness and focus, reduces stress, cultivates patience and persistence, and fosters creativity.
This group will also support social interaction with peers and explore self-expression. Flow Arts Groups encourage participants at different stages to find a prop they may enjoy. Participants will also make their own poi.

D.I.Y YOGA MAT
This group allows participants to make their own space for self-care to take home. This is
done through painting your own yoga mat. During the session, you will be provided with a yoga mat, an introduction to the purpose of the session, things you may like to consider while painting and how you may choose to be mindful in the process. You will be provided with the option to join a brief yoga session to help your expression if you wish or you can follow your own mindful practice to decorate your mat. At the end, you will have your individual yoga mat.
Please note this is a messy one, paints will be water-soluble, but you may like to wear something you don’t mind getting dirty in and something to protect your car for the drive home.
ZONES OF REGULATION
Zones of regulation is a framework to support people to understand their feelings and alertness, then learn strategies to shift between these zones. This is a half-day activity-based family session supporting families to explore the zones and form an understanding of activities or things that will shift their zones. The activities will be set up to gain an understanding of the zones then moving between stations to test and try activities including physical activities, sensory activities and relaxation activities to complete everyone’s Zones passports. Some fun challenges will be in the mix to encourage the fun while learning about each other.
