Karen-Lea — Early Intervention Specialist
Karen-Lea Simmers is The Health Hub Early Intervention Specialist. Karen-Lea is passionate about helping children and their families. She holds a Bachelor of Teaching Early Childhood from the Queensland University of Technology, a Bachelor of Education (specific to inclusion and learning support) from the Queensland University of Technology. Karen-Lea is a trained Hanen Strategies Coach in Speech and Language Strategies, holds a Certificate (IV) in Workplace Training and Assessment, is a competent and trained Brigance Screener in the private education sector, and has undergone Neurosensory Feedback Training with Smart Start Minds in the United Kingdom.
Karen-Lea has been a Registered Queensland Teacher for twenty-nine years, with considerable teaching experience in the Early Childhood field. She is fluent and confident in the implementation of various curriculum models including, The National Curriculum, the Queensland Kindergarten Curriculum and The Early Years Learning Framework. Karen-Lea has and extensive knowledge of all thing’s early childhood and mentors Child Care Educators and Centre Directors on the importance of inclusion and how to implement inclusion in their services successfully.
Karen-Lea has an outgoing personality which is easy to connect with. Outside of work, Karen-Lea enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and her dog Miss Polly.
